Frequently Asked Questions

You can take the GRE General, GMAT, TOEFL, Praxis, and over 500 different professional licensing exams.

You must contact the graduate school or program you want to attend to determine what tests are required.

For ETS exams, go to the Educational Testing Service website at www.ets.org or call (800) GRE-CALL. To register for other Prometric exams go to www.Prometric.com to register. Candidates for GMAT or other Pearson VUE exams go to www.pearsonvue.com. GMAT candidates can also go to www.mba.com. The Testing Center cannot accept registration payments.

It depends on the time of the year. From August through March you will need to register three-four weeks ahead of the time you want to take the test (remember to allow 2-3 weeks after your test date for scores to be sent to graduate schools). Other times of the year are not as busy. The earlier you register, the more choices you will have for date and time.

This is your personal decision. Some people prepare for a year, while others do no preparation. Please check the test owner's website for additional information. You may also purchase test review books or go to a commercial test preparation company.

Free parking is available in front of the office complex. An accessible entrance is available on the west side of the building (behind the main entrance).

Only one individual can be registered at a time. Registering involves locking up possessions, leaving food or beverages in the appropriate area, checking identification, additional paperwork, checking registration information, going through a security protocol, bathroom break before starting exam, taking pictures and fingerprints. Individuals are processed on a first-come first-served basis. You can be admitted before your test appointment; however, we cannot guarantee admission after your test appointment. Once an appointment expires we cannot register you.

You need to bring your ID with you. The Testing Center supplies you with pencils and scratch paper to use during your test. No other items are permitted in the testing room.

No. Your driver's license or passport must be current and valid. Also, it must not look like it has been tampered with or altered in any way.

No. You may not substitute a ticket for a driver's license as ID, even with a student ID. We need another government-issued ID, such as a passport or government-issued state ID card. A student ID is insufficient and can not be accepted as identification.

Yes. The name on your ID must be the same as the name on your registration.

Yes. The Testing Center has individual lockable storage lockers for your belongings. You keep possession of your locker key during your entire testing time.

Food and drinks are NOT allowed during testing. However, during breaks you may have access to any food you wish to keep in a designated area in the waiting/locker room.

Yes. Most tests allow optional breaks. Unscheduled breaks are reported to the testing company. During the break you can use the restroom or get a drink of water.

You will see unofficial scores for the Verbal and Quantitative sections on your computer at the end of the test if you choose to record your scores. You will receive official scores that include the analytical writing section in the mail in 10-15 business days.

Your TOEFL IBT, scores cannot be viewed at the Testing Center. They are available on the TOEFL website 15 business days after the test.

Score recipients you have chosen will receive scores in approximately 2-3 weeks.
